Previously, the Atlantic Ocean was central to global political and economic interests. Now attention is shifting to the Pacific Ocean. And just as it is shifting there and neighboring nations are organizing themselves to be the new hegemonic actors on the world stage, the further transition to the Arctic Ocean is accelerating the processes of global change in a way never experienced before in human history. In fact, making the importance of the Pacific Ocean practically obsolete.
Now, the Arctic is becoming increasingly important as the ice melts. And the economic and financial elites of North America and Russia are licking their chops in anticipation of huge profits. Ok. Fine. But I would like to know one thing. From the depths of my geopolitical and strategic ignorance, I ask myself: who on heart will benefit from all this maritime trade that the oligarchies of the world are so anxiously awaiting? I mean, if maritime trade will mainly transit through the Arctic Ocean, it means that the glaciers have completely melted and that the climate has changed to mild. And when that happens, half the world’s population will be extinct. Who will they sell all those beautiful goods to? How many consumers will be left alive? And how many will still be able to afford to spend their money as if the market would never fail due to such drastic climate change?
What’s in their brains??
Prima negli interessi politico-economici mondiali era centrale l’Oceano Atlantico. Ora l’attenzione sta transitando verso l’Oceano Pacifico. E proprio mentre vi sta transitando e le nazioni limitrofe si organizzano ad essere i nuovi attori egemoni sulla scena mondiale, la transizione verso l’Oceano Artico accelera i processi di cambiamento mondiale in un modo mai sperimentato prima nella storia dell’umanità. Rendendo di fatto praticamente già superata l’importanza dell’Oceano Pacifico.
Ora, l’Artico diventa sempre più importante man mano che i ghiacci si sciolgono. E le elite economiche finanziarie di Nord America e Ruxsia si leccano i baffi in attesa dei grossi profitti. Ok. Va bene. Ma io vorrei sapere una cosa. Dal fondo della mia ignoranza geopolitico-strategica mi chiedo: ma tutti questi traffici commerciali marittimi che le oligarchie del mondo attendono con tanta ansia, a chi gioveranno? Volgio dire, se i traffici marittimi transiteranno prevalentemente sull’Oceano Artico, vuol dire che i ghiacciai si sono completamente sciolti e che il clima è cambiato in mite. E quando questo accadrà, metà della popolazione mondiale sarà estinta. A chi venderanno tutte quelle belle merci? Quanti saranno i comnsumatori rimasti in vita? E quanti potranno ancora permettersi di spendere i loro soldi come se il mercato non andasse mai in crisi a causa di un cambiamento climatico così drastico?
